Leaders of TRUE PROGRESS in the Voluntary Youth Sector… we are calling on you now

Event Summary:

TRIUMPH is convening youth sector leaders to set the precedence for focused, sustained and truly evolutionary action that will tackle the systemic inequalities that still exist in the voluntary youth sector – with an initial focus on racial inequity.

Your attendance and input is vital for two reasons:

  1. The experiences and perspectives of a range of respected leaders will ensure we begin to form a plan of action that will lead to genuine long-term transformation in the sector.

  2. The sector must be unified around such significant issues and leaders with influence like yourself are critical to this being achieved.

What will happen after the event?

We believe there’s a genuine desire to tackle the inequalities that exist within the voluntary youth sector and wider society. Fortunately, TRIUMPH’s intentions of Awareness Raising, Analysing flaws in practise and Actively Facilitating connections across the sector to improve standards of practise have already been acknowledged by a number of funders, supporters and decision-makers so this event is the perfect catalyst for the activity to begin. As respected leaders of change, we implore you to be a part of this event as this is a critical part of guiding progress in the sector.

Following the event, we intend to engage with varied and representative stakeholders in the sector, including Young People, Youth Work Practitioners, Operational Staff and Organisational Leaders as part of this work to understand their experiences and perspectives.

For these reasons, we invite you to be part of the most honest, open and progressive event you’ll have attended in a while.

Who are TRIUMPH:

You may not know much about TRIUMPH (Tackling Racism and Inequality with Underrepresented and Marginalised People Honestly) but we are an independent Action Group of organisations and colleagues in the Voluntary Youth Sector that, since July 2020 have been reviewed, surveyed and had much needed dialogue about the systemic inequities that still exist in our beloved sector – with a core focus on racial inequality.

Made up of colleagues from UK Youth, the Institute of Youth Work, Think Forward, Young Devon, Career Ready, the New Economics Foundation and more, we are committing to progress the youth sector through Awareness Raising, Analysis and Active Facilitation to diversify leadership, develop a standard of anti-oppressive practise and ensure organisations are equipped to take ownership over their equalities practise.

What to expect from TRIUMPH

Our Mission:

To progress the youth sector through Awareness Raising, Analysis and Active Facilitation to diversify leadership, develop a standard of anti-oppressive practise and ensure organisations are equipped to take ownership over their equalities practise.

Our Vision:

A youth sector that values and prioritises racial equity and sees organisations hold themselves, and one another, accountable to anti-oppressive practise.
