TRIUMPH Chair, Louis Howell, will welcome you all to today's event and provide an introduction and background on TRIUMPH for those that may not know much about our work to date.
10:00 - 11:00 - Panel Discussion
Now, our panel of colleagues who play a range of roles across the voluntary youth sector will discuss and explore the question: "How does your identity and/or the August riots influence your commitment to equity?"

Having heard the panel discussion, attendees will now have the opportunity to discuss their own views on the prompt question.

Now, we will have presentations from the facilitators and contributors from our three 'Solution Spaces' that were launched at last year's conference. It's important you are aware of the progress made so far so you can understand how such solutions will influence people at an individual, organisational and sector level.

These presentations from sector experts will empower and equip attendees with the understanding of how to take a data-driven approach to racial equity, and broader EDI, whilst ensuring the stories we tell along the journey move hearts, minds and hands.

Saba Iftikhar
Forestry and Youth Work Practitioner
Saba Iftikhar is a Green SP and Eco-Therapy, Forestry Practitioner and Youth Worker. With over 10 years' experience of working with YP and using nature as an outlet to explore and self-reflect, Saba works with the local population and communities at a grassroots level, offering a variety of activities. She encouragex the use of using nature as a healer through different exercises and activities in the outdoors.
Saba works for a local organisation “Pennine Oak’s" - a community organisation based in the heart of a beautiful woodland near Pendle Hill, Lancashire. Numerous social prescribing interventions are hosted in the woodland for Young People. People can self-refer or be referred by local networks, police, council, and local services.
Pennine Oak's works with a range of young people, including refugees and individuals from Global Majority backgrounds to increase confidence, motivation, teamwork, and support networks all vital for wellbeing.
Saba also volunteers with several charities in her spare time. She is the Chair of Trustees for the Institute for Youth Work and also sits on the following boards: BPRCVS, Pendle Police Youth Forum, PNN, LBN and TRIUMPH”.

Eli Manderson Evans
CEO, Blagrave Trust
Eli Manderson Evans is the CEO of The Blagrave Trust, an organisation that funds and collaborates with partners to bring lasting change to the lives of young people. He has over 10 years’ experience in policy, research and strategy roles covering connecting issue areas such as the empowerment of young campaigners, LGBTQIA+ rights, climate justice, racial justice and much more.

Keji Okeowo
Managing Director, HUDL Youth Development Consultancy
Keji Okeowo is an expert in leading conversations and creating spaces where equity is at the forefront. As Director of the HUDL Youth Agency, Keji brings over 20 years of experience in the youth sector, consulting with organisations such as the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation, the Blagrave Trust, Mission 44, and the Coop Foundation. She helps them navigate the process of sharing power with young people and co-producing programmes and initiatives with long-lasting and far-reaching impacts.
At HUDL, Keji leads and manages teams of junior and senior associates, board, and panel members across the UK, supporting their professional growth while ensuring the organisation remains focused on empowering young people to disrupt, co-design, and drive positive social change. As an experienced facilitator, coach, and action learning facilitator, she is frequently sought after as a critical friend by organisations aiming to deepen their commitment to equity and diversity.
In addition to her work at HUDL, Keji is a Trustee at the Ministry of Stories, which empowers young people in East London through creative writing and imaginative exploration. She has also established a thriving debate club for young people, providing safe and fun spaces to explore and discuss key issues that will shape their futures.

Esther, Horner Aird
Deputy Director for Youth Work, National Youth Agency
Esther Horner-Aird has worked in the Youth and Community Sector for over 20 years, delivering through a variety of youth work methodologies such as detached, outreach, outdoor education, participation and centre based. Esther has worked in youth work, youth justice and social care sectors as a front-line practitioner and strategic leader.
Esther sits as a trustee of Kinetic Youth, a national youth work charity that specialises in youth work within youth justice.
Esther joined the NYA as Deputy Director of Youth Work, amongst a broad portfolio, Esther was instrumental in leading on internal initiatives to respond to EEDIB needs, requirements and responsibilities. Esther currently oversees the development of the National Youth Council to the UK and supports the UK Youth Ambassadors to the Council of Europe and the Commonwealth.

Jodie Lloyd-Jones
CEO, Oxfordshire Youth
Jodie Lloyd-Jones is the CEO of Oxfordshire Youth (OY), the leading youth work charity in Oxfordshire. Under her leadership, the organisation’s strategy, The Power of Youth Work, outlines how their collaboration with the youth sector—which collectively engages over 26,000 young people across the county—transforms lives, unites communities, and addresses inequalities. With Oxford being the second most unequal city in the UK, OY recognises the essential role of youth work in tackling inequity.
Jodie brings over 25 years of experience in youth work, including 16 years in leadership and management. She also serves as the Vice-Chair of the Children’s Trust Board in Oxfordshire, Chair of the Children and Young People’s Forum, Co-chair of the Charity Leaders’ Forum, and a member of the Violence Prevention Partnership (VPP) Strategy Board. Additionally, she is a Board Member of UK Youth.

Jaffer Ali Hussain - Event MC
Vice Chair, TRIUMPH
Jaffer Ali Hussain is a highly motivated social entrepreneur, coach and trainer who has been involved in youth and community work since he was 15. Jaffer is deeply passionate about the racial equity and draws on his own lived experience to support colleagues and organisations locally, regionally, and nationally to be more racially equitable. These experiences have led him to developing a style in which he translates concepts and tools into plain speaking, easy to understand English and in a way that’s captivating and humorous. Jaffer’s extensive work in and around the youth sector also means that he has a wealth of tools at his fingertips and can often work with individuals and groups to create unexplored solutions alongside clear, actionable plans. Refreshingly unassuming, Jaffer believes in putting others first.

Nikita Velverde - Event MC
Managing Director, Concept of Lift and Local Champions CIC
Nikita is a business leader and advisor to creative businesses, non-profits and early stage tech organisations. Through her consultancy and facilitation company, 'Concept of Lift', Nikita focuses on building forward thinking and inclusive leadership teams. She is also the director and cofounder of 'Local Champions CIC' which tackles social inequality by supporting voluntary grassroots organisations to transform into wage-paying social enterprises. Nikita is known for driving incubator and accelerator programmes addressing society's most pressing problems.
